Harvey, La. - Sheriff Newell Normand reports, on August 24, 2009, our Second District Officers arrested two men in connection with a theft from a vending machine. Corey Esquerre, W/M, 36, of 100 Plaquemine Street in Metairie and James Scott, W/M, 50, of 843 Camp Street in New Orleans were taken into custody after breaking into a vending machine at 605 Lapalco Blvd in unincorporated Gretna.

Hammond, LA. - Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards announced at approximately 3:50 p.m. this afternoon that Jarris Darnell Monroe was arrested after turning himself in to Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Deputies.
Jarris Darnell Monroe, 23, of St. Rose, La. Was wanted in connection with the home invasion burglary and murder of Grace Lamonte, 68, and the critical shooting of her 72-year-old husband Anthony Lamonte.

Kenner, La. - The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality has recommended that Kenner receive a $18 million loan from clean water act funds to help move forward a major rehabilitation of the city’s sewerage system. The Kenner City Council is expected to vote on a resolution at its meeting Thursday night to enter into a low interest loan with the state.
Plans for the rehabilitation work were begun shortly after Mayor Ed Muniz took office in July, 2006, and he received word a few days ago that DEQ had recommended that the Kenner loan be approved.
