HERITAGE HALL HOSTS FIRST ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR

Attendees Offered Comfort, Free Admission

Some 40 booths filled with paintings, wood carvings, bead work, handmade purses, New Orleans area specialty items and handcrafted jewelry will make up Rivertown’s inaugural Arts & Crafts Fair on Saturday, August 1, at the newly-renovated Heritage Hall, 303 Williams Boulevard in Kenner. Admission and parking for the event are free.

Mary-Sharon Howland, director of the city Department of Community Services, which is sponsoring the fair, said she expects the event to be one of the largest arts and crafts fairs to be staged in Kenner. Vendors and shoppers will enjoy an air conditioned environment and refreshments will be sold.

Kenner, La. - The Kenner Police Department is presently investigating a fatality accident in which a pedestrian was struck by a train at Taylor Street and Kenner Avenue. At approximately 7:20 p.m., Kenner Police received numerous 9-1-1 telephone reporting that a pedestrian had been struck by a train. Upon officers arrival they discovered the body of a 58-year old female, who was identified by family members as Cynthia Tuckson, of 2524 Kenner Avenue, Kenner. Ms. Tuckson was pronounced dead on scene. According to family members Ms. Tuckson, the victim, is hearing impaired (deaf).

Kenner, La. - A New Iberia man was arrested earlier this morning in an undercover online internet sting. Chad Landry, 33, who provided the home address of 3200 Ronald Circle, New Iberia, Louisiana, was arrested and charged with the crimes of computer aided solicitation for sexual purposes and indecent behavior with a juvenile. The investigation began July 8, 2009. During the course of several online chats with Landry, he solicited sex and oral sex from an undercover police officer posing as a juvenile in an online chat room. In addition, Landry sent pictures via email exposing himself to the undercover officer. Landry was arrested by Detective Brian McGregor at 12:48 a.m. this date (July 22, 2009), after he arrived at a prearranged location in Kenner for the sole purpose of engaging in sex with a juvenile. Landry was utilizing the screen name “lowrider_2470560.”
